In spite of modernisation and progress, Bangkok is still a city of waterways and depends on the Chao Phraya River and the klongs (canals) for much of its day-to-day activities. Water-taxis and water-buses are of daily use for thousands of commuters, and there are still "floating markets" which cater to the needs of the people living along these waterways. Our afternoon Rice Barge Cruise begins with a journey by hang yao (long-tailed motorboats) through suburban canals before boarding a most comfortable, converted rice barge for your return trip enjoying drinks, fruits and snacks at sunset.
